Indian consumer AI startup Equal AI has secured $30 million in fresh funding as it looks to evolve from a voice-call assistant into a broader AI-powered personal assistant platform. The funding round was led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital, with participation from several prominent investors.
The company initially gained traction through its AI call-screening technology, which helps users handle spam calls, delivery calls, and other incoming conversations using AI. Equal AI says it now serves more than 1 million monthly active users across India.
With the new capital, the startup plans to move beyond voice calls and build AI-powered services across communications, financial services, lifestyle assistance, and concierge tasks. The goal is to create an everyday AI assistant for India’s growing smartphone user base.
The fundraise highlights growing investor confidence in consumer AI startups as companies race to build practical AI products for everyday users.
