Bajaj Finserv has announced plans to invest up to ₹2,000 crore in AI startups and emerging technology ventures over the next five years through its newly launched initiative, Finserv Intelligence.
The move signals one of the biggest long-term commitments by an Indian financial services company towards the country’s rapidly growing artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Focus on AI, Cybersecurity & Quantum Tech
Under the initiative, Bajaj Finserv aims to support startups working across:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Cybersecurity
- Quantum Technologies
- Fintech
- Consumer Tech Platforms
According to the company, the initiative is designed to build scalable and cost-efficient technology solutions from India for both domestic and international markets.
Partnership With IIT Bombay
As part of the expansion, Bajaj Finserv has partnered with IIT Bombay to establish a joint research centre focused on AI, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies.
The initiative will also include:
- Research & Development labs
- Centres of Excellence
- Venture-led innovation models
- Scholars-in-Residence programmes
The company plans to strengthen India’s deep-tech ecosystem over the next decade through academic collaboration, startup investments, and internal innovation programs.
Partnership With IIT Bombay
This latest announcement adds to Bajaj Finserv’s growing interest in India’s startup landscape. Earlier this year, chairman Sanjiv Bajaj had already revealed plans to invest ₹400–450 crore into AI-focused ventures during FY27.
Industry experts believe large corporate-backed investments like these could significantly accelerate India’s AI innovation ecosystem, especially as the country competes globally in emerging technologies.
India’s AI Market Growing Rapidly
India’s AI sector is projected to reach nearly $126 billion by 2030, making it one of the fastest-growing technology opportunities globally.
However, experts also point out that India still faces major challenges in competing with countries like the US and China, particularly in advanced chip infrastructure, funding scale, and manufacturing capabilities.
With initiatives like Finserv Intelligence, companies are now attempting to bridge that gap and position India as a major innovation hub for future technologies.
